Three Central Valley experiences in one day
Begin among the coffee-growing hills of Alajuela, continue into the cool highlands of Poás Volcano National Park, and finish among rainforest trails, wildlife exhibits and waterfalls at La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Breakfast, both park admissions and transportation are coordinated as part of the day.
What to expect
After pickup at Adventure Inn, travel with a bilingual guide toward Doka Estate. Breakfast is followed by a guided coffee experience explaining how coffee is cultivated, processed and roasted.
The route then climbs toward Poás Volcano National Park. Poás is active, and its crater can sometimes be hidden by clouds, mist or rain. Park access and viewing conditions may also change because of volcanic activity, so a clear crater view cannot be guaranteed.
At La Paz Waterfall Gardens, enjoy lunch before exploring the park's rainforest setting. Its attractions include wildlife exhibits, gardens and a descending trail with waterfall viewpoints. The waterfall section includes numerous steps and wet surfaces, so comfortable walking shoes and a moderate level of mobility are important.
Weather and access
Conditions can change quickly in the highlands. Bring layers and rain protection even when the Central Valley starts warm and sunny. The order of stops, park access and time at each location may change for safety, weather or operational reasons.
