Rainforest and lowland birding in one day

Begin in the Quebrada González sector of Braulio Carrillo National Park. Its three rainforest trails offer a chance to search for mixed feeding flocks, tanagers, hummingbirds, antbirds and other Caribbean-slope species with a specialist guide.

Continue into Sarapiquí

After the park visit and a lunch stop at your own expense, continue toward Sarapiquí. The lower elevation adds riparian forest, secondary growth, farmland and open-country habitat, broadening the day's possible species. Exact stops depend on current access, weather and recent bird activity.

A tour built around observation

This is a slow, attentive day rather than a fast hike. You may stand quietly for long periods, walk on humid uneven trails and encounter rain at any time. Bring your own binoculars; ask whether a spotting scope is available.

The package currently lists transport, park admission, a guide and water. Lunch is not included. No bird, mammal or total species count can be guaranteed.
