Select the right park trail

Carara has Costa Rica's first universal-access national-park trail as well as natural-surface routes. The guide should choose the trail according to current closures, recent activity and your mobility. Park hours begin at 7:00 a.m. from December through April and 8:00 a.m. from May through November.

Bird the Tárcoles mangroves by boat

After a lunch stop at your expense, board a guided boat to explore river and mangrove habitat for herons, egrets, shorebirds, kingfishers and mangrove specialists. Crocodiles may also be present, but close encounters and wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
