Two-Day Pacuare Rafting & River Lodge

Two days inside the Pacuare rainforest

Raft into a remote lodge, spend the afternoon near the river, and continue through the Pacuare's stronger Class III–IV rapids on day two. The full route covers approximately 36 km and combines paddling, guided hikes, five meals and one night away from the road network.

Day one

Start from the confirmed San José, Arenal or southern Caribbean service area and eat breakfast at the operator's center. After equipment fitting, safety instruction and paddle practice, launch on an upper section of the Pacuare. The first day emphasizes Class III whitewater and includes a hike before reaching the lodge for lunch.

Spend the afternoon on a guided walk or relaxing at the lodge, depending on conditions and group preference. Dinner and river-lodge accommodation are included. The supplier's public descriptions conflict on whether assigned units are cabins or permanent safari-style tents and on bathroom layout, so confirm the exact accommodation before booking.

Day two and onward travel

After breakfast, pack for a longer rafting section with the Class IV rapids. The day includes another hike and lunch before reaching the operator's center to shower and change. Collect stored luggage and continue to your confirmed San José, La Fortuna or southern Caribbean destination.

Fitness and safety

Minimum age is 12, and every participant must paddle, follow commands and manage wet, uneven terrain. River levels may change the route or raise the minimum age. This expedition is best for active guests comfortable with two strenuous days, basic remote lodging and changing weather.
